Viewer submitted recipe: Seafood Stroganoff

Viewer submitted recipe: Seafood Stroganoff

From our KLTV cookbook called "Proud of East Texas," (what else?) comes a recipe for a quick seafood dinner.

The recipe was submitted in the 1998 by Diana Conine of Tyler. It sounds pretty simple, delicious, and quick:

Seafood Stroganoff:

1 pound shrimp, crawfish tails, or scallops (or a combination)
1 bunch of green onions, sliced (tops included)
1 stick of butter (ed. note: or a healthy Omega-3 butter blend, like Smart Balance)
4 TBS flour
2 TBS garlic powder (or to taste)
1/2 pound fresh mushrooms, sliced (ed. note: you can buy these pre-sliced to save time)
1 tsp worcestershire sauce
2 tsp creole seasoning (any brand you like)
1/2 cup vermouth (optional, but definitely adds better flavor) (ed. note: white wine could be substituted if no vermouth on hand)
1 16 oz. carton of sour cream. (ed. note: light sour cream will cut fat and calories and still be creamy and delicious!)

Peel and devein shrimp, if necessary.

ETX soldier is safe at home

LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV)-

An East Texas soldier is safe at home after six months in Afghanistan.
It was a long flight home for PFC Colton Brown.

After being in Afghanistan since December, he is now back in East Texas for two weeks of well- deserved R&R.

"I'm glad I'm home for my sister's graduation and my best friend's wedding," Brown said.

It's a short but appreciated break from his job over seas.

"A big steak for sure; I need a steak," Brown said.

That's a request this thankful family said they can handle.

"Yeah, I'm going to grill him some steaks...as many as he wants," Colton's father, Billy Brown, said.

The past few months have been difficult for the whole family.
