GREGG COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - Officials held a press conference this morning to update residents on the fire situation in Gregg County.
Longview Mayor Jay Dean and Gregg Count Judge Bill Stoudt, along with a Longview fire official confirmed that the fires in Longview and Gregg County are all partially contained.
However, they are not completely out and are still a threat to the community.
Officials are anticipating additional developments in these fires this afternoon and the rest of the week because of the lack of rain in the forecast.
Longview Assistant Fire Chief Administration, Curtis Shaw, says crews are monitoring the fires south of Gladewater and South of White Oak.
They are asking citizens to use extreme caution and, of course, no outside burning is allowed. Assistant Fire Chief Shaw also stressed that if you are not a trained fire fighter you should not try to put out these fires.
