Bank robbery suspect on loose in Longview | News
LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - A man is on the loose after a daring daylight armed robbery Friday at a Longview bank.
Longview Police Sergeant Richard Spruiell says, "Anytime an individual has a handgun and he's brazen enough to use it in a robbery in broad daylight, he would definitely be considered armed and dangerous."
When officers arrived, BankcorpSouth employees told them this man walked into the bank and approached a teller window.
A teller told police that the man walked up and passed a note to her, and that wasn't all, he also showed her that he had a semi-automatic pistol.
The teller handed over money, then the suspect fled the bank and disappeared outside.
"Detectives have some leads they're following up on, we don't have anything conclusive at this point, that would bring this whole thing to a conclusion but we do have some leads they're following up on...," says Sgt. Spruiell.
From the coolness of the suspect, police are checking to see if this man may fit descriptions in other cases.
"That's one of the things they're looking into just to see if any other incidents by a man of this description have happened in the area," Spruiell explained.
Police combed the bank looking for evidence, dusting for fingerprints, and searched the immediate area of the bank but no sign of the suspect was found.
Investigators believe the man acted alone.
No one was injured, and the FBI has joined the search for the suspect.
The man is described.as a white male, possibly in his 30's, wearing blue jeans, navy or black jacket, dark ball cap, and small rimmed glasses.
