HARRISON COUNTY, TX (KLTV)- Hundreds of marijuana plants have been uncovered after fire crews reported to a house fire in western Harrison County.
Fire officials responded to the house fire in the one hundred block of Deerfield road west, just north of Longview. Crews were quickly able to control the fire, but later found hundreds of marijuana plants in the home.
"A neighbor in the neighborhood drove by , saw smoke coming from the house, called fire department. We made entry and extinguished the fire. My entry into the investigation , discover some other activity that was going on and subsequently had to call the sheriffs department for further investigation," says Harrison county fire marshal Thomas Mock.
Fire crews on the scene say they discovered an elaborate watering system within the home along with the marijuana plants. The homeowners have yet to be located or identified.
Officials say the fire caused little damage to the main living area and the attic. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but authorities believe it may be electrical.
The county fire Marshal and sheriff's are currently on the scene, along with West Harrison and Hallsville fire crews.
No injuries have been reported in the fire. Officials are currently investigating the situation and we will have the latest posted on KLTV.com
