The Pine Tree ISD Board of Trustees conducted the regular monthly meeting on June 13th at 6pm in the Central Administration Office. Dr. T.J. Farler, Pine Tree’s new Superintendent was offered a three-year contract with unanimous approval by board members. Farler, who is currently serving in Wylie ISD as Assistant Superintendent, will start leading the District July 5th. Read more about Superintendent Farler.
Board President Melinda Burns recognized Board Member, Gil Gillam who resigned after twelve-years on the PT Board. “We honor Mr. Gillam’s service to this board tonight and thank him for the many years of service he has devoted to the students and staff of Pine Tree ISD,” said Burns.
Gillam replied with personal words of thanks to the other six board members, staff members in the district, and to his wife who attended his last meeting. “I also want to congratulate Pine Tree’s newest board member, Dr. Craig Meek,” he said as he pulled out a parting gift. “I have brought you a couple of energy drinks, Dr. Meek.”
Returning incumbent board member Pat Noon and new member, Craig Meek, were sworn in at Monday’s meeting.
Principals from each of the campuses presented highlights from the 2010-2011 school year. Accolades were given for student and staff accomplishments. “We are very proud of the great things happening at Pine Tree,” said James Skeeler, Interim Superintendent. “We can never say enough about all the work that goes into making our District stand out; we have much to celebrate and it is important to take the time to point these things out.” Read more about the 2010-11 District Awards & Accomplishments at the District web page, www.ptisd.org.
