VIRAL VIDEO: Man shares Abercrombie & Fitch clothing with homeless

A man has made it his comic mission to make a point about the "exclusivity" of Abercrombie & Fitch's CEO on YouTube, saying, "Together, we can remake the A&F brand. #FitchTheHomeless."

The video has gone viral on YouTube as the young man strives to make a point in a humorous way, receiving over a million plays in only two days.

This year, Dixondale Farms is celebrating a milestone–100 years in business–and millions of plants sold to garden centers, farms and home gardeners across the United States.

Good Shepherd Medical Center is pleased to announce that two of their registered nurses and a physician have been selected as 2012 March of Dimes award recipients.

Honored are Jenna Lucas, RNC-OB, named the honoree for the State of Texas March of Dimes Excellence in Perinatal Nursing Award; Stephanie Capt, BSN, RNC-NIC, Clinical Director, NICU/Pediatrics/Lactation, selected for the Regional March of Dimes recipient for Excellence in Neonatal Nursing and Jack Graham, MD, Board Certified in Obstetrics and Maternal Fetal Medicine, selected as the recipient for the Regional Perinatal Physician Excellence honoree.

Award winners will be honored at a reception scheduled for Monday, November 19 at Good Shepherd Medical Center.

Chamber professional attends state downtown conference

From the Longview Chamber of Commerce:

Kayla Cantey, Convention Meetings and Main Street Manager, will attend the Texas Downtown Conference November 5-9 at the Holiday Inn in Wichita Falls.  This annual event is presented by the Texas Downtown Association and the Texas Main Street Program.  Hosts for this year’s meeting are Downtown Wichita Falls Development, Inc. and Wichita Falls Convention and Visitors Bureau. 

 Since 2007 when Longview became recertified as an Urban Main Street City, Chamber staff working with the Main Street Program has attended this conference for continuing professional development of their leadership skills. 

 This year’s theme is All Things Downtown.

Assistant superintendent chosen for distinguished alumni award

From Longview ISD:

Longview ISD Assistant Superintendent Jody Clements has been selected to receive the 2012 Alumni Award for Achievement and Merit from the University of Arkansas at Monticello.

Clements and four other UAM alumni – including the director of Arkansas’ largest environmental policy and regulatory agency – will be honored by the university on October 12 for their professional achievements.

“This is a distinguished group and each has earned the right to be honored by the university,” Chancellor Jack Lassiter said. “We are honoring individuals who have excelled in business, education, law, public service and the military. We are honored to be able to recognize their achievements.”

Clements, who attended UAM on a track scholarship, earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting in 1987.  He also holds an MBA in accounting from Louisiana Tech and certifications from Stephen F.
