PTHS Students Earned Accolades and Awards at the VASE State Competition

Pine Tree High School students received state medals at the State Visual Arts Scholastic Event (VASE) held April 5-6 at Bryan High School.  Among winners at the state level are:  Emily Ambern and her artwork “Popcorn Mania” and Ellen Austin who won a state medal for her art work “Sounds Of Silence”.

Sponsored by the Texas Art Education Association, VASE is one of the largest curricular competitions in the nation. At the State VASE event, jurors look for originality of concept, technical expertise, understanding of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), and the interpretation of the student’s stated intent for each project.

PTHS art instructor Mary Graham adds, “About 25,000 entries are received statewide, of which approximately 1,500 qualified for the State VASE event.  I am very proud of each of our students in the PTHS Art Department.”... Read More
